Fire Resistant Mortar

Supplied in 20kg bags, our fire resistant mortar is based on the sulphate mineral, gypsum. Activated by water, gypsum expands significantly squeezing and crushing pipes, ducts, or cables passing through the mortar consequently sealing the holes caused by these penetrations. It only takes adding extra water for, at most, 45 minutes to reactivate it.

Any plastic pipes passing through the mortar should be wrapped using our plastic pipe wraps.

Our NHBC approved fire resistant mortar has been duly tested in compliance with BS476 Part 20: 1987 and, depending on its depth, width, and volumetric area, it can offer a fire resistance capacity of up to 6 hours!
